Spring is right around the corner and there are some pretty fantastic ways to begin ringing in the season here in Plattsburgh, New York. From sampling locally grown and foraged produce to taking in an evening of blues and soul music from an exciting up-and-coming singer-songwriter, there is plenty happening this March on the Adirondack Coast.
FOOD FROM THE FARM
Plattsburgh’s best farmers and growers will be showcasing their locally grown goods on Saturday, March 7 at the Plattsburgh City Gym for the annual Food from the Farm. Celebrating the people and the food that grows in our beautiful region, the 11th annual event features vegetable growers, bakers, jam makers, honey producers, and much more. Chefs from Twisted Carrot, Himalaya Restaurant, and Latitude 44 Bistro will be preparing tasty treats for attendees to enjoy, and there will also be free samples available from local wineries, breweries, and farms. Get there early to receive a tote bag!
SHAMROCK SHUFFLE
Kicking off the St. Patrick’s Day festivities, the Shamrock Shuffle is a five-kilometer charity run that benefits the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital Foundation. Now in its fourth annual edition, the race starts and finishes at the Valcour Brewing Company. Whether you walk, skip, or race to the finish line, be sure to stick around afterward for some great food and beer — and don’t forget to wear your most festive green running gear! The fun takes place on Saturday, March 14.
THE DANIELLE NICOLE BAND
Presented by the Plattsburgh Blues and Jazz, the talented Danielle Nicole will be performing at the Strand Theater with her band on Tuesday, March 3. Nominated for Best Contemporary Blues Album at the 2018 Grammy Awards, the Missouri-based singer-songwriter and bassist is known for her breathtaking vocals and enchanting stage presence. A founding member and the lead singer of the Kansas City blues band Trampled Under Foot, Danielle pursued a solo career in 2015 with her debut album, Wolf Den.
